Getting around Saint Martin is relatively easy, thanks to its small size and scenic roads. The best way to explore the island is by renting a car, which gives you the freedom to visit both the French and Dutch sides at your own pace. Roads are generally in good condition, though traffic can get busy near popular areas like Marigot and Philipsburg.

Taxis are widely available but can be expensive, especially for longer trips—be sure to agree on the fare beforehand, as most taxis don’t use meters. Minibuses are a cheaper alternative, mostly used by locals. They follow flexible routes and can be flagged down easily, but they don’t always run on a set schedule.

If you're staying in a resort area or beachfront town, walking is also an enjoyable way to explore local shops, restaurants, and beaches.
